My daughter’s visit to the nature room was a bit less filtered than I remember them being in my own suburban childhood.

designing for humans

Here are some of the resources I’ve found useful in thinking about clean, human-oriented design.

  • I use 37Signals software frequently for project and list management, and enjoy their minimalist approach to design.  They have elaborated on their application design philosophy in the useful book Getting Real, which you can view for free online.

  • Jakob Nielsen’s website usability blog , which has been around forever, and his consulting organization Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g), which publishes very useful reviews each year of the best in user interface/site design for a range of categories.

knitting is good for you. and me.

The moral of my ode is this: beauty is twice beauty, and what is good is doubly good when it is a matter of two socks made of wool in winter.
~ Pablo Neruda
